BAPTISM

“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.” (Matthew 28:19 NKJV)

If you knew nothing more about baptism than this verse of the Bible, it would be reason enough to be baptized. This is Jesus’ own command and if you believe in Him, you will want to be obedient to it and be baptized.

Accept it with a believing heart, for it is His Word. It is His way of adopting us as His children and making us the heirs of eternal life. Let not your human wisdom, which often fails to give God the credit for having all the power in Heaven and earth, stand in the way of your obedience to His commands.

It is God’s wonderful way He has established by which He comes to you with the promise of salvation, assuring you the forgiveness of sins in Jesus Christ.

As you grow in years you learn through Christian parents and Christian teachers that you become God’s child through baptism, i.e., you are born again, walking in newness of life (Romans 6:1-6). For it, you should praise Him and serve Him with a Christian life.

He comes to you first. He seeks you. You do not seek Him. “We love Him because He first loved us,” the Word of God points out.

Baptism is God’s established way by which you are brought to Him for the greatest blessing He can bestow, namely; the gift of eternal life. “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned” (Mark 16:15-16 NKJV).

Pray to the Lord Jesus Christ, who has brought you again to life with your heavenly Father, thanking Him for the assurances that He has given you through His command of baptism. Thank Him that you may be His child and have His promise of the gift of eternal life. Ask Him to give you His grace that you may express to Him your thanks for a Christian life. Ask your Lord to give you an earnest desire to become fit tools in His hands by which others may also receive this blessing of life.
