BONDING WITH GOD

“Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.” (Matt. 19:14)

One of the most important things a newborn baby experiences after it’s breath of life is the “bonding” time shared with it’s family. This is the time for the first loving touches, being tenderly caressed and held while tears of joy abound. An essential part of a baby’s life, a loving environment produces confidence, trust and relational skills that are as necessary as food for survival. Without this love, the child could die.

Of equal importance is the time our children ‘bond’ with God. Children should experience God even in infancy. Paul told, “But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have become convinced of, because you know those from whom you have learned it, and how from infancy you have known the holy scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus” (2 Tim. 3:14-15).

Just as they learn to love their family, children should learn to love God early in life. They will learn to love God through being surrounded by His love. Children are tender hearted and eager to learn and love at a very early age. Show them God’s love by teaching them at every possible moment. “Remember your Creator in the days of your youth, before the days of trouble come and the years approach when you will say, I find no pleasure in them” (Eccl. 12:1). Loving God, the most essential part of life, will produce the loving environment necessary to lead to eternal life.
