SIMON PETER - HIS LIFE AND ITS LESSONS

It has been said, “No other in Scripture is pictured for us more clearly or strongly than Simon Peter.” His character is transparent and easily analyzed. Because it seems that Peter was a leader among the apostles, some view him as prince of the apostles. He was hopeful, bold, confident, courageous, frank, impulsive, energetic, vigorous, strong, and loving and faithful to his Master, notwithstanding his defection prior to the crucifixion. It is true that he was prone to inconsistency, and because of his peculiar temperament he sometimes appeared forward and rash. Yet, as has been said, “His virtues and faults had their common root in his enthusiastic disposition, and the latter were at length overruled by Divine grace into the most beautiful humility and meekness, as evidenced in his two Epistles.” (Unless noted, King James Version translation used in this study)
